Allied Health at Hospice North Shore is part of the Multidisciplinary Palliative Care Team made up of two areas: one being Family Support and the other being Physiotherapy.
Family SupportThe experience of facing a life limiting illness can bring families/whānau into unfamiliar territory beyond the medical condition. The Hospice North Shore team are all professionally trained and qualified to bring a range of skills to assist patients and families to identify and explore the issues they may encounter. Counsellors Hospice Counsellors are trained to work with the emotional, psychological and relational dimensions of life limiting illness and bereavement. Social Workers Social Workers are available to assist families/whānau to access practical and financial help, residential and hospital care, and other support to which they may be entitled. Life Review Hospice North Shore offers an opportunity to have the patient’s story recorded. We have a wonderful team of volunteers who work with our staff to provide this exciting service. We offer one free copy and a small charge for photocopying, scanning of photos and binding for any extra copies. PhysiotherapyOur Physiotherapist provides specialist palliative care physiotherapy not only to our patients in Hospice North Shore In-patient Unit but also to the patients in our community. |
