About Us............
Albany Hospice shop is a big, bright retail space dealing mostly in clothes, books and bric a brac. The move to a new larger shop in 2011 has allowed plenty of room to grow with easy parking right in front of the shop. We have a team of over 60 volunteers, some of whom have been with the Albany shop since it opened in its old location in 2006. Store Manager Joanne and 2IC Sarah are enjoying the faster pace and increased level of donations. New and existing customers frequently comment on the great layout and quality of items in store. |
Volunteer, Penny tells of her Albany experience...........
My dear Uncle was able to pass away peacefully at home due to the dedicated care of my Aunty supported by Hospice carers. It was after this event that I told my Aunt if I ever did volunteer work, it would be for Hospice. I am fortunate to work from home and cleared a spot in my schedule to do a shift every week in the Albany shop. I don’t really know why I love it so much, except to say that it’s always different and I can be creative in a way I don’t always get to in my paid work. I look forward to it every week and always go home feeling as if I have contributed to something worthwhile. |
