The "OP" Shop
Browns Bay Hospice shop is a local meeting place for our community.
It may not be in the centre of town but hundreds of people visit us every week to buy goods and donate items they have enjoyed. It makes people feel good to bring us things they have finished with but don’t want to throw out.
This is the place that you can sometimes find exactly what you need without spending a fortune. Other times you find what you don’t “need” but just want !
The shop gives people hope and confidence that they can dress themselves and their families as well, and find things for the house and themselves without breaking the budget.
Browns Bay Hospice shop prides itself on selecting really good quality clothing, but its secret weapon is ‘The Dollar Rack’ outside. This is always full of great bargains.
The atmosphere of the shop is warm and inviting and customers often spend lots of time browsing.

I work from home so my Thursday morning at Browns Bay Hospice shop is my breath of fresh air for the week. I am instantly surrounded by the colour and variety of ever changing stock. It’s always interesting, amusing and educational. You can’t find that kind of range in any other type of shop and we get a kick out of recycling and offering bargains at the same time.
We improve the quality of life of our customers who make us a regular part of their week, calling in to get a book, a new top, a great pair of shoes or just a chat and a smile.
Our manger is a priceless dynamo who somehow makes sense of all the chaos.
The ladies are all my friends, are happy and cheerful and love a joke. Not only that but I learn the words to the songs I have known all my life whilst listening to our inimitable music collection, and...Pat makes me lots of cups of tea!"
