Loaf has been created by Sean Armstrong, one of Auckland’s top chefs, with the vision of producing extremely high quality handcrafted breads for the Auckland Restaurant market.

Sean trained in New Zealand before moving to London where he worked for 3 years in Michelin Star Restaurants. On returning to Auckland Sean was Head Chef at O’Connell Street Bistro and went on to be Proprietor/Chef at another leading restaurant, Prime Bistro.

Loaf opened for business in October 2004 and was started in a small bakery in Mt Wellington with one wholesale customer. Loaf now looks after around 100 customers. The focus at Loaf is around quality not quantity. Many of the aromas and flavours that are experienced in our breads are from natural starters that have been fermented over time. Loaf continually strives to use the best ingredients. What also helps make Loaf ’s bread so special is that the bread is baked in stone deck ovens with a long fermentation process.

You can enjoy Loaf breads at many of Auckland’s leading cafes and restaurants and it can also be purchased from Nosh gourmet food store and the Auckland fish market.
