The photos in our office are a
constant reminder of the amazing
feat of 7 guys who raised over
$12,800 for Hospice by riding their
bikes more kilometres in 3 weeks
than most of us do in a lifetime.
In March this year Steve Northey, Kim Libby, Shane Page and Tod Penberthy, biked the entire length of the country, a distance of more than 1,200 kilometres. Alistair Johannesson, Geoff Chilcott and Brian Evans joined them and cycled the length of the South Island, as their challenge to themselves and to each other. It was their way to support and show their appreciation for the work of the North Shore Hospice as many involved with the ride have witnessed first hand the support and care we provide.
We continue to be humbled by individuals who take on personal challenges and choose to also use the opportunity to raise funds for North Shore Hospice.
But with the use of on-line technology, the time consuming task of going around trying to get friends and family to sponsor their events has been eliminated by the wonderful FundraiseOnline website. Steve said:
"FundraiseOnline is so easy... we just set up our web page on FundraiseOnline which we linked to our daily blog (although you can do your blog on FundraiseOnline ). Once we started our challenge, it was as easy as sending an email to all our friends and colleagues, with the link to our webpage and asking them to donate and it could all be done on the spot. With every donation that was made, FundraiseOnline automatically sent out an acknowledgement and receipt on behalf of Hospice.
All donations show up on the webpage with the total amount raised. We were also able to add donations that we received on the way or through the post. It was great as we could get on with all the training that we needed to do for the challenge".
Thank you to everyone who supported Steve and the team, your generosity was incredible.
