It is just over a year since our Beachhaven shop
was opened by shop Manager Diane Gable and
her wonderful staff. They have embraced wholeheartedly
the Hospice tradition of working way
beyond the call of duty and have turned what was
a decrepit old building into a lively, modern shop
with interesting stock and a very defi nite ethic of
community spirit. The volunteers there are all local folk and this is a
real example of Community involvement.
The shop has already become a local talking point with the wonderfully
decorated windows. The shop stocks anything, from plants for the
garden to clothing, bric-a-brac and smaller items of furniture and
the staff are always thrilled to receive good quality donations. Diane
is especially pleased with the new shelving in her extensive “book
department.” These have recently been installed by our volunteer Ian
Downey, who does so much to keep our shops well fi tted out and in
repair. (Not to mention his work around Hospice itself).
As Diane says, “Nothing is too much trouble.” The shop runs on
this principle, and we say thank you to all the wonderful people of
Beachhaven for their support.
If you are interested in helping in our Beachhaven shop, please pop
in and see Diane, or ring Barbara Moss at Hospice on 09 486 1688.
We also have vacancies in our Forrest Hill Warehouse and our
other shops in Birkenhead, Glenfi eld, Link Drive, Albany, Browns Bay
and Takapuna.
